Our ability to provide quality care to the foster homes we recruit and support is directly linked to the skills and commitment of those willing to become part of the 4KIDS Team. Our volunteers are an important part of this ministry; they allow us to be able to expend our resources more efficiently, thus providing better service to our foster parents and the children in their homes. We ask that you prayerfully consider becoming part of the team at 4KIDS of Tampa.
You Can Help By Becoming A:
• Foster Parent/Back-up Foster Parent (respite care)
• Special Friends/Babysitter
• Office/Administrative support volunteer
• Equipment/Clothes Donor
Foster Parent/Back-up Foster Parent:
At the very heart of 4KIDS are the couples and singles willing to open their heart and their home to a child in need of love, stability and hope. Placements can be from several days to several months. The foster child may range from a few days old or be in their teens.
There are many reasons people fail to act on the knowledge that God has called them to be foster parents. Some concerns are legitimate, while others stem from a misunderstanding of the process. We would welcome the chance to address your concerns and answer your questions honestly.
If you are interested in becoming a foster parent or back-up foster parent, please call Irene Smith at (813) 384-8537 or email Irene.
Special Friends/Babysitters:
Special Friends and Babysitters commit to building a fun relationship with a full-time family and the foster child placed with them. Volunteers will provide a listening ear and encouraging words to the children and youth in our care and provide need support to foster families.
Office/Administrative Support Volunteer:
The Office support volunteer is responsible for daily office management, as well as identified administrative tasks. Duties may include: copying, filing, making phone calls, assist in mailings, inputting information into excel and organizing office and donated items.
General Volunteers:
Volunteers are needed to create welcome baskets for incoming children and/or help 4KIDS staff with office support, support groups, the 4KIDS Closet, and major events.
Equipment/Clothes Donor
The 4KIDS Closet was created to take in new/gently used quality clothing and child-care equipment to help create an “instant home” for a child who arrives on short notice.

The nature of this ministry requires that we ask that all volunteers go through the same background checks as our foster parents. We recognize that the decision to be a part of this ministry requires prayer and a special calling that only the Lord places on your heart.
